On 27 November 2019, the Council agreed to a series of projects aimed at reducing the need for children to come into local authority care, stabilise the existing cohort of Looked After Children and to safely step down children who can return home, with the overarching aim of making children’s social care sustainable in terms of expenditure and quality of outcomes. The success of one of these projects, to establish the ‘Positive Futures’ model, is dependent on making the building at St Lawrence Road, Denton fit for purpose as the short break and crisis bed provision.
