The Council currently operates a varied fleet
of 238 vehicles and plant to provide its numerous services to the
residents of Tameside.
This report and the attached 8 Year Fleet Replacement Strategy
provides background to the current position, sets out the
Council’s current fleet requirements and the length of their
safe and efficient operation before they need to be replaced. This
report is seeking approval for the Fleet Replacement Strategy to be
adopted.
The strategy also takes into account possible changes to the
Council’s service operations and the impact on fleet and the
introduction of new legislation. It also considers the take up of
new technological and environmental in vehicle design and build,
providing the Council with a fleet that operates to the maximum
efficiency in a safe and legal manner.
